ANMS PROJECTS

Definition

ANMS is a TMN based network management system that is applied in the access network, as a network connection between SNI (Service Node Interface) and UNI (User Network Interface) . Is ANMS also operable on SNI - SNI links which are from multiproduct and multivendor ?.

ANMS itself focused on the OAM functionality. We know that the whole kind of telecommunication services are delivered to user end over the access networks, but there are several tasks of operations management for each services themselves, likewise ISDN has its operations management. How do ANMS integrate with these things ?.

Based on TMN concept, in near future ANMS should be integrated into TMN standard architecture, that would construct the information management exchange in a data communication network. How about the integration preparation in phases ; ANMS managed elements consists of various access media (fibre, radio, copper) from one/single vendor, ANMS for one type access media from multivendor, and ANMS for various access media from multivendor.

 Why need ANMS ?

As TELKOM has target in provisioning telephone lines up to 7 millions by the end of PELITA 7 (seventh five-year period of national development), consequently TELKOM has so many aspects of telecommunication network, which must be able to be managed properly, in order to provide high quality of services Regarding to the increasing number of customer and the improvement of telecommunication technology offered, makes it becomes much more difficult to maintain quality standard of services. Therefore Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) plays an important role to manage network in order to increase network performance and increase revenue.

TMN enables many aspects of network operation that can be managed in an integrated application. As a part of TMN, Access Network must be managed as well, because its operation can affect very much to service delivery and respectively it is closely related with customer satisfaction. Today, each of access network technology has its own network management systems, and TELKOM has implemented some of them. Moreover the existing network management come from particular vendor, and not capable yet to integrate with the other vendors product. TELKOM should know the requirement, in term of developing an integrated management for access network, based on current network management operation. Furthermore TELKOM will be able to define standardisation for access network management, which related to TMN concept.

Accordingly, we would joint riset between TMN Laboratory-DivRisTI (PT. TELKOM) and other riset institution to defining requirements around TELKOM environment, and the system management for access network. In the future project is considering for the implementation plan to integrate all network management especially for access network. As a result TELKOM would improve operation performance; likewise minimum MTTR (Mean Time To Restore), maximum MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), shorten service delivery time, providing reliable and accurate database.

The document consist of basic requirement, and continued to develop detail requirement for Access Network Management in TELKOM network environment

The document consist of basic requirement, and continued to develop detail requirement for Access Network Management in TELKOM network environment From the this document enables Telecommunication Company to improve the network performance, which involves access network part.
